Join Me

For just a moment, set it aside.

Set aside the elephant and the donkey in the room.

Remember what your grandmother told you.

“Have discernment through the filter of Jesus, girl.”

Open your eyes to the possibilities, both good and bad.

Is one thing worth trading for another? Are these things even true? Did you do your homework, research? Did you dive into the documents, the laws, the bills, and the actual work? Or did you passively believe the pundits and their reckless behavior?

Who is your circle of influence?

Is it your family, your favorite author, your friend, or your pastor? Is it news channels, social media, and your local beauty-shop chatter?

Can you ask these people questions without an argument ensuing?

Are they also people whom you can fully trust to always make the best decision based on truth, facts, and evidence?

Are you bent on seeing your loud proclamations through, even though the evidence for a damaging outcome is overwhelming? Do you know without a doubt that what you have been told is based on truth, and not an agenda or lies? Do you understand you have an opportunity and a responsibility to rise above the realm of media, politics, and people, you have a higher calling?

What does your instinct tell you? Do you brush it aside or follow it through? What if it feels hard but true? What if your instinct to change your mind in the middle of everything is right, because it is fed by a higher power than all of this?

Is Jesus shaking his head at us right now, trying to figure out how much more clearly he could have spelled things out? Is he gearing up because he has a lot of work to do, eyes to open and hearts to see, instead of how we feel?

What happens when you make the wrong choice and realize it’s too late?

Thankfully, it is never too late with Jesus, only with people.

If you would make the decision to identify as belonging to Jesus instead of a political party, things will change for you. If you will pause taking sides and listening to the hype, things will change for you. If you will stop arguing, participating in the narrative that is reckless from all accounts, and focus on the truth and the record, you will see the fog lift and remember who you belong to.

We don’t all get it right every time. We are humans, destined for greatness only after this world. But while in this world our responsibility is to Jesus, not to man. It’s to those who need him, not to their agenda.

Join me in discernment, something our country desperately needs.

Join me in prayer, for all sides, and all parties, and all circumstances because we are called to lift them up to a higher standard.

Join me in praying for ourselves to silence the narrative that we are divided in politics, instead raising awareness to be united in Jesus.

Join me in self-liberating quiet. Prayer over my choices, my ability to pause before I speak, return fire on social media or respond to hatred in any form. Prayer to heal, starting with myself, and moving on to those closest to me, that I may be an example of positive, Jesus affirmed redemption and change.

Join me in the quest to make the small part of this world I am afforded a better place.

Joyful, peaceful, protected and redeemed.

XOXO,
