Twas the Week Before Christmas: A Tribute

T’was the week before Christmas, when all through the house,

All the creatures were stirring, even that dang mouse!

The stockings were sitting on top of a box,

Mom gave up trying to hang them,

She was busy mating socks!

The children were nestled, in their gaming chairs,

With mountain dew, snacks, and no other cares.

And I in my hoodie, and hubs in his too,

Took a deep breath  preparing for a weeklong zoo.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the couch to see what was the matter.

Away to the door, I flew like a lark,

Peering into the night- it sure was dark!

The moon was so full, the stars so bright,

But I still couldn’t see what had caused us a fright!

I stepped out on the porch, and my eyes did behold,

It was a pizza delivery and wings – it was GOLD!

With a little sweet driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment she’d rival St. Nick!

She slipped and she slid all the way to the door,

To my husband I said, Tip her a bit more!

Her eyes- how they twinkled,

Her face was aglow,

Her smile lit up our porch,

Her happiness showed!

She was dressed in a coat, with some jeans and boots,

She had on a scarf and some gloves which were cute!

She held our junk food tight, walking on the ice,

Her commitment to our snacking was rather quite nice!

Pepperoni, olives, sausage and such!

Here are the wings, the cheese sticks, OH MUNCH!

She dropped off the soda, the chips and some grease,

Then she slid  down the driveway with such graceful ease.

She got into her car,

She waved us goodnight,

She sped off down the road,

For more deliveries tonight!

The pizza was hot,

the cheesesticks all sticky.

The chips they were salty,

The wings were  just drippy!

We had the ranch,

We had the bleu cheese!

We also had napkins,

Clean up was a breeze!

The gamers emerged from their rooms in a hurry,

They both fixed a plate then quickly scurried,

Back to their screens and friends on the web,

Back to the world they could pause for a sec.

Hubs and I sat,

We enjoyed our delivered dinner,

Then we took the time,

Just to remember.

The pizza delivery lady was great,

She saved us glasses and silver and plates!

She showed up real fast and was gone just as quickly!

She served us well, in this week full of frivolity!

So this week when you find yourself in a pinch,

You forget dinner, just call- it’s a cinch!

Your local pizza place will come to the rescue!

And they will bring it right to you!
